How popular is padel in Puerto Rico?TrustPadel▾
Padel is still in its infancy in Puerto Rico. Currently, there are 11 venues and 28 courts recorded, so the sport is effectively non-existent in public data. That said, neighbouring Caribbean islands and Latin American countries have seen explosive growth, and Puerto Rico shows strong potential due to its tourism and sports infrastructure.
Where can I play padel in Puerto Rico?TrustPadel▾
At the moment, the pickings are very slim. Our directory lists 11 padel venues with 28 courts across the island. If there are no courts yet, your best bet is to contact major tennis or multi-sport clubs in San Juan, Ponce, or Mayagüez and ask about padel plans – many are evaluating installation. You can also check back on TrustPadel regularly for updates.
Which cities should I watch for padel growth?TrustPadel▾
While no city has a padel venue yet, the most likely hubs are the capital San Juan, followed by Ponce, Mayagüez, Arecibo, and Carolina. These cities have the population density, tourism traffic, and sports facilities that attract padel investors. Keep an eye on these areas for the first court openings.
Is there a governing body for padel in Puerto Rico?TrustPadel▾
Not yet. Puerto Rico does not have a national padel federation recognised by the International Padel Federation (FIP) or the Panamerican Padel Association. That means the sport is unregulated for now, but as soon as venues appear, it’s likely that a local association will form to formalise competition and standards.
How do padel prices in Puerto Rico compare with the Caribbean and US?TrustPadel▾
Since there are currently no public padel venues in Puerto Rico, there is no local price data. However, based on regional averages, a padel court rental in the Caribbean typically costs $20–$35 (USD) per hour, while in the US mainland it’s often $30–$50. In Puerto Rico, prices will likely align with the Caribbean range, given lower labour and real estate costs. Check back once courts are listed.
Are padel courts in Puerto Rico indoor or outdoor?TrustPadel▾
Given the tropical climate, outdoor courts will be the default in Puerto Rico, likely with sun shades and ventilation. Indoor courts are also possible in high-end clubs or air-conditioned sports centres, but the cost of cooling makes outdoor construction more likely. Early developers will probably install semi-covered courts to balance comfort and cost.
